I am back in the studio after the Chicago and Michigan trip. We had the Open house at the fire Department this weekend which took a better part of my weekend.
I am getting ready for the open house at the building. We are doing the first Friday thing. I am going to have a bunch of work up along with some other artists. One of my favorites is Patrick Simmons. He will be showing a lot of new work.
So if you find yourself near south Broadway on Nov. 7 stop by 240 S. Broadway for a drink and some fun.
As many of you know my background lies in photojournalism. I have worked for many news outlets such as the Associated Press, The St. Louis Post DIspatch and others. As much as I love working in the studio, one of my passions in documentry photography.
In College I became a fan of a number of photojournalists in the industry and since then many have come and gone. One Man Stands out.
James Nachtwey has been one of my favorite photographers since I found this as a career path. I remeber the day I got a copy of Deeds Of War. I keep that book in the office to this day and pull it out every so often. James Nachtwey won the TED award which gave him $100,000 to put towards a project of his choice. He chose to document a new strain of TB which is running rampant in the world. the first video is Mr. Nachtwey speaking about his career and what makes him who he is. The second are the images from his TED projet.
I am still in Detroit, AKP is still sore from the Chicago Marathon. Here is the slideshow I threw together. I have spoken with some of you at home in CO and it snowed last weekend. It was 88 for the Marathon.
Hope you like the photos. It was a lot of fun to watch AKP and AS run 26.2 miles in crazy heat. They are two very tough ladies.

Ok, I was so happy with the way this turned out I had to share. I just finished working this up and delivered it. It turned out pretty well I thought.
It almost looks like an old Varga painting, eh?
Well, the ladies are getting ready for the marathon and M and I are having a few beers. Good Times.
I am in Chicago right now and AKP is going to run the Chicago Marathon on Sunday. There will be 40 some odd thousand people running 26.2 miles through the streets of chi town.
We are staying on the 22 floof of the old Chicago Sun Times building in the Holiday Inn. The Race starts early tomorrow and then We are travelling to Detroit to see AKP's family then I am flying home on Thursday. I have a some images that I am processing while I am here so I have some great stuff to post this week.
Before I left I had a shoot with Abby and we had a great time. I should be working on those here soon and I will get them up.
As many of you know I am also a volunteer firefighter with Elk Creek Fire Protection District. This year, like years past, we are on the drive to recruit more members. We did a mailer this year and the slogan is " Can you fill these boots?" I took some time last week and made a picture to go with it.
A client pointed out that they did not feel comfortable with a name posted anywhere on the web for proofs or in the blog. Fair enough, I had never thought about that. So from now on I will refer to people by letters in their names. Easy enough I think.
I got to photograph C on Tuesday afternoon. We were going to do a pinup/ glamour type shoot. It was a lot of fun and I have some great photographs. I have just started to work on them, here is my favorite that I worked on today. I will post more as I finish them.
On a sidebar, the building that the studio is in is going to have and "open house" on the first Friday on November. Hope to see everyone here. We will have food, drinks and some artists showing work. It should be a good time.
